Jitters return...

By Equitymaster.com

The bourses continue to languish in the wake of Pak Prez's belligerent address. The market movers will keenly watch India's response to the same by external affairs minister, Mr. Jaswant Singh, scheduled at 3:30 PM today. Till then red is likely to be colour for the indices.

The BSE Sensex is at 3,172 (down 61 points) and the NSE Nifty is at 1,043 (down 20 points). The rupee is trading at Rs 48.99 per US dollar.

The PSUs are in deep red. After seeing a spurt yesterday, non oil PSUs have beat a hasty retreat. These include RCF, Shipping Corp (SCI.BO, news) ., Sail, Concor and Engineers India. Among the stalwarts, HPCL and BPCL continue their losing spree. Only ONGC and IPCL are up in the sector.

Media too is draped in colour red. Zee, Mukta, TV18, Midday, Pritish Nandy and Tips are in the negative zone. So is Balaji, which had gained smartly yesterday post its spectacular FY02 results.

The software sector too is in red. All pivotals are down. Index heavyweights like Reliance (RELI.BO, news) , RPL and HLL too are in negative territory.
