Tatas unveil three projects in Orissa

The Tata group today unveiled three major projects in Orissa in the field of technical education, information technology and tourism envisaging a combined investment of Rs 100 crore.
The group company Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) today held the groundbreaking ceremony for its Global Software Development Centre at Bhubaneswar. Slated to come up over 45 acres of land in the Infocity, the center will cover both software development and IT enabled services.
The architectural blueprint of the center is now getting ready. The building expected to be be built in two years will accommodate about 1,000 to 1,200 professionals in the first phase.
The building and provision of other associated facilities in it are estimated to cost about Rs 40 crore. The foundation stone for the center was today laid by chief minister Naveen Patnaik.
Patnaik also laid the foundation stone for IndiOne hotel at Bhubaneswar. IndiOne is the brand for smart basic hotels promoted Indian Hotels Company of the Tata group.
Consisting of 101 rooms, the property is expected to be operational in about 10 months and the estimated investment in its construction is pegged at Rs 50 to 60 crore.
The company is also scouting the prospects of setting up similar hotels in other places of the state including Konark, Puri, Duburi and Paradeep.
Earlier in the day, the the JN Tata Technical Education Centre set up by Tata Steel (TISC.BO, news) at Gopalpur was inaugurated by Patnaik in the presence of Tata Steel MD, B Muthuraman. The institute will impart training to young boys and girls on steel making technology.
