Nokia recall causes confusion among dealers, customers |
|
By IBNLive.com
New Delhi: Nokia's advisory against 46 million of its BL-5C batteries has the Indian users flocking the service centers and dealers and even online. But is there real cause for panic?
Mr.Saxena is a worried man. His Nokia phone has a BL - 5Cc battery, one of the 46 million, that Nokia says is defective.
"I came to know when i saw in the papers. It could burst. I stopped charging my phone after that, thinking let me first find out, “Saxena said. '
And Mr.Saxena is not alone. People all over the country are flocking dealers and service centers to know if their battery is dangerous or to ask for replacements.
The people of Nokia are having a tough time explaining what to them is the obvious.
“There is a specific procedure that Nokia has issued that you need to follow. It is there in the papers, it is there on the website. Or there is the helpline number,” Nokia dealer Puneet says.
The BL-5C batteries are used in about 40 models, many of which are aimed at the majority. And with Nokia issuing an advisory against 46 million of these, 'how worried do you need to be?' is the 46 million dollar question.
“I haven't heard of any battery going blast! The battery might malfunction it might stop working, but it will in no way affect the phone or the user of the phone, “ Puneet added.
So I’ve been told that my battery won’t burst, but I need to have it exchanged. I'm trying to find a Nokia dealer or service center.
So there you have it. You won't find a replacement with the dealer. Just log on to nokia.com and if your battery needs to be replaced, it will simply be couriered to you. That's the end of it, sweet and simple.
