China may be a threat to refractory makers

By Corporate Bureau

Refractory makers in India might lose out to imports, especially from China, if they fail to meet supply deadlines.

Refractory makers, whose fortunes are tied up with those of steel makers, will miss the bus if they fail to put their houses in order, especially with global giants like Posco and ArcelorMittal planning to enter India.

"The consistent failure of refractory makers to stick to supply schedules is hurting their credibility. The steel industry has started looking at China and this is worrying," Mecon's D Rath said at the AGM of the Indian Refractory Makers Association on Saturday.
