This is with reference to CPM statements that the party will not mind supporting the UPA alliance again for forming the next government at the Centre, if need be. And they are making such statements in the midst of their strong tirade against the ruling alliance, which they were supporting till a few days back. It is high time that suitable safeguards were built into the Indian polity through constitutional amendments or parliamentary enactments, whereby any post-poll alliance, which is warranted by circumstances like a fractured mandate or a hung parliament, would only be between parties or fronts having comparable ideologies. —N.Vijayagopalan, Bangalore Holding firm India must not compromise on its farmers' interests at the WTO, while the developed world continues to heavily subsidise its farmers. —Sumit Sharma, Hyderabad
