GENEVA (Reuters) - India welcomed a move by the United States to limit its farm subsidies as part of talks for a global trade deal, India's trade minister said on Wednesday, adopting a more positive tone than earlier in the day.

"The first thing which we must take note of and must appreciate is that the United States is moving," Commerce Minister Kamal Nath told reporters. "Up to now there was no movement. The fact that movement has started is a good thing."

Nath said he hoped for further progress in talks this week to prevent the World Trade Organisation's Doha round of negotiations for a global trade deal being put on hold.
