Renewables Academy Offers Transfer of German Know-How to Combat Climate Change

Berlin, Germany, Monday, December 08, 2008 -- (Business Wire India) --

As part of the TREE scholarship program engineers and decision makers from a total of 14 countries in South America, Asia and Africa are being invited by the German Renewables Academy (www.renac.de) to seminars on renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and climate protection. The objective of the TREE project (www.tree-project.de) is to disseminate knowledge with the aim of advancing global climate protection, in line with the agreements of the Kyoto Protocol process. The project was initiated by RENAC and is being supported by the International Climate Protection Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment.

The TREE scholarships will be awarded to key players in their respective countries; those who are responsible for the creation of the political and business foundations or for actual implementations. Within just a few weeks of the announcement of the project RENAC has received over 800 applications, coming from energy ministries, leading business and energy associations, research institutions, non-governmental organizations and business enterprises. "The program is aimed at those participants, who can apply the acquired knowledge in the best possible way in their careers" said Berthold Breid, founder and CEO of RENAC. In the TREE seminars, the participants will also have the opportunity to converse with the representatives from the other countries, allowing them to learn from each other's experiences.

Germany has many years of expertise in the implementation of renewable energy projects. Through this knowledge transfer, it will be able to make a contribution to accelerating the global development of climate-friendly infrastructures for energy supply. The TREE seminars are based on a phased concept: from December 2008 to June 2009 one-week introductory and advanced seminars will take place in the RENAC Training Center in Berlin. Throughout 2009 there will be further online courses, together with the opportunity for individual consultation with the RENAC energy experts.

The Renewables Academy, based in Berlin, offers education and training in renewable energy and energy efficiency in an international context. In the courses held in English participants can acquire both technical and non-technical knowledge.
