New Delhi, Delhi, India, Friday, December 12, 2008 -- (Business Wire India) --
Alphion® Corporation announced that it has received the
Technical Specification Evaluation Certificate (TSEC) for its Gigabit
Passive Optical Network (GPON) access equipment that supports the
deployment of the next generation of multiple play FTTx services.
The Alphion GPON product family consists of the state-of-the-art Optical
Line Terminal, Optical Network Terminals, and Passive Optical Splitters.
The Alphion Optical Line Terminal offers high-density 40 GPON ports per
shelf, ultra-fast 200 gigabit per second backplane, and 56 gigabit per
second uplink capacity. The platform supports PON architectures with
path and equipment redundancy, and includes Optical Network Terminals
for single family residences, small businesses, and multiple dwelling
units. Alphion will be displaying its full line of GPON equipment at the
2008 India Telecom show, December 11th to 13th, in
New Delhi.
“Alphion is the first telecommunications equipment manufacturer to
successfully complete TSEC certification of GPON based access
equipment,” commented Dr. Bijoy K. Mishra, Alphion Vice President of
Sales. “This is a major milestone for Alphion. It is a testament of
quality and reliability of Alphion GPON products and positions Alphion
to be a leading supplier of GPON access solutions in the Indian Telecom
Networks.”
TSEC is a lengthy and rigorous certification process carried out by the
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Quality Assurance (QA) organization
that validates that a vendor’s equipment conforms to all of the
technical specifications and requirements specified by Telecom
Engineering Center’s Generic Requirements (GR) and ensures that the
products meet the highest quality standards. TSEC certification also
requires compliances to stringent environmental standards such as QM333,
QM301, QM303, CE, EMI/EMC, IP55, NEBS, UL, etc. TSEC certification is a
necessary requirement for deploying GPON products in BSNL and Mahanagar
Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL (MTNL.BO, news) ) networks in India.
