EuroPacific Growth Fund increases stake in HDFC

EuroPacific Growth Fund of America acquired 0.63 per cent stake in HDFC to 5.42 per cent now.

The fund acquired 18 lakh shares at Rs 1,147 per share on March 5 from the market.

The company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (^BSESN : 16632.01 -222.92) about the development on Monday under the SEBI Regulation 13 (1), "Details of acquisition of 5 per cent or more shares in a listed company."

Other major stakeholders in HDFC as on December 2008 are - Citigroup Strategic Holdings Mauritius that holds 9.1 per cent and Cmp Asia that holds 5.41 per cent in the company.

The share price of HDFC closed with a gain of 2.7 per cent at Rs 1255.8 on Monday. The shares of the company have risen by 8.1 per cent over the past three trading sessions while the Sensex has fallen by 3.4 per cent over the same period.
