BSE Sensex seen higher; Reliance in focus
MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex (^BSESN : 17519.26 +29.18
) is set to start higher on Wednesday, after world stocks rallied as U.S. Federal Reserve held benchmark rates near zero and maintained its pledge to keep them low for an extended period.
Energy major Reliance Industries (RELIANCE.NS : 1076.95 +7.25
) will be in focus after a source told Reuters the company is seeking a joint venture with Atlas Energy to develop the U.S. firm's
Marcellus Shale gas operations.
Non-ferrous metals producer Sterlite Industries will be watched as copper prices rallied on a softer dollar.
Asian shares were firm with the MSCI's measure of the region other than Japan rising 1.1 percent by 0241 GMT, while Japan's Nikkei was up 0.7 percent.
The Nifty (^NSEI : 5245.9 +14
) India stock futures in Singapore were up 0.6 percent, indicating a positive start in the domestic market.
On Tuesday, the 30-share BSE index rose 1.3 percent to 17,383.18, its highest close since Jan. 20.
