Pharma retail mkt growth declines 7% month-on-month

Even as most domestic pharma companies are basking in the glow of better than expected quarterly results, the domestic pharma secondary sales market has witnessed a month-on-month dip of 7% in value growth figure. The pharma retail market recorded a growth of 9.8% in September, compared to a growth of 16.5% in August, according to market reflection of ORG IMS. The turnover of the pharma industry for September stood at Rs 3,554 crore. In the products category, there is a major rejig with the onset of early winter. Piramal Healthcare s Phensedyl Cough drug jumped eight places in one month time to grab the topmost position, while another coughsyrup, Pfizer s Corex is sitting comfortably at the number two position. Another product, a painkiller, Novartis flagship drug in India Voveran, which is a consistent performer was ranked at number two.
