Godrej Consumer beats Street, net rises to Rs 93 cr

FMCG major Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GODREJCP.NS : 281 -7.6) (GCPL) on Friday reported a surge in second quarter profit, driven by volume growth and lower input costs. The figures are way ahead of estimates. The company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 93 crore for the quarter ended September 30 FY 2009-10 as compared to Rs 34.7 crore in the corresponding period last year. Sales revenue (net of excise) increased 65% to Rs 575.6 crore from Rs 348.1 crore on the back of strong performance across both soap and hair colour businesses. GCPL s advertisement and publicity increased by 109% to Rs 50.9 crore from Rs 24.4 crore.
