By Soma Das
The fifth largest domestic pharma company, Piramal Healthcare Ltd, plans to launch around 26 drugs in the current financial year. The launches make Piramal Healthcare top the list of 10 largest domestic pharma companies on the basis of revenue earned from new drug launches, as per data from ORG IMS. The company currently commands a market share of 4.1%, up from 3.7% last year. We plan to launch a total of 26 products in FY 10, Swati Piramal, director of strategic alliances and communications, Piramal Healthcare, told FE . A significant part of the portfolio would be from the derma vertical, meant for sensitive skin, and would be brought to the market from the derma specialty stable of Pierre Fabre, the third-largest pharma company of France. The Mumbai-based firm entered into a partnership with the French pharma major last year to launch a new dermo-cosmetic range, Ducray. When asked whether the company is open to further brand acquisitions in the potential high-growth area of aesthetic dermatology, Piramal said, We will keep bringing two to three products every year in the dermatology segment from our French partner Pierre Fabre. She said Piramal Healthcare s tie-up with the French firm is exclusive in nature and in this particular segment, the company is not considering more tie-ups presently. Of the 26 products, the company has already launched nine products in the first quarter and introduced nine more in the second quarter.
