IIM-A placements: Campus upbeat as Day 2 draws top cos

The upbeat mood in the summer placements at the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) continued for the second day as the campus was thronged by some of the biggies from the field of marketing and finance on Tuesday. Companies from the fields of marketing, general management, consulting and finance offered internships to students. Hindustan Unilever and Procter & Gamble were the prominent companies for marketing sector, while Tata Administrative Services and Aditya Birla Group made offers for general management. Hindustan Unilever and Procter & Gamble, which are on top of the preference list of students looking at a career in marketing, were back on campus to recruit summer interns for 2010. Diageo, Nokia and Coca Cola were other sought after marketing companies on Day 0.5, said a member of the media cell at IIM-A. Rahul Krishna, head of human resources at TAS said, The Tatas and TAS, in particular, is committed to investing in growth of future leaders and to this effect we at TAS put all resources into place to provide the best opportunities to the best talent. The Tata Administrative Service and the Aditya Birla Group saw over 15 acceptances between the two firms. These students will join various group companies across India and abroad for a 2 month period. Feedback Ventures, a firm focused on the infrastructure sector was one of the consulting firms present on Day 0.5. Fortress Financial Services, another firm specialising in infrastructure recruited for the first time at IIM-A this year. Some other companies that returned to IIM-A this year and recruited from two to five interns are Citibank, Frost & Sullivan, Edelweiss and Anand Rathi. Overall, I did say Day 0.5 this year was similar in terms of roles offered if compared to Day 0.5 last year, according to Himanshu Nema, head, placement cell, IIM-A.
