Rupee edges higher; shares open watched
MUMBAI (Reuters) - The rupee gained on Monday boosted by the dollar's drop against major units overseas and tracking higher Asian stocks but traders were awaiting the domestic sharemarket open for further direction.
* At 9:16 a.m. the partially convertible rupee was at 46.43/44, stronger than 46.60/61 at close on Friday.
* The index of the dollar against six majors was down 0.4 percent.
* At 0346 GMT, the MSCI index of Asian stocks ex-Japan was up 0.5 percent while the Nifty (^NSEI : 4941.75 -63.8
) India stock futures traded in Singapore were down 0.2 percent.
