Kingfisher, Jet hike fuel surcharge

Mumbai, Nov. 6 -- Domestic airfares have gone up marginally with leading private airlines Kingfisher Airlines, Jet Airways and JetLite increasing fuel surcharge with immediate effect, to offset the steep hike in jet fuel prices.

For distances below 1,000 km, the fuel surcharge has risen by Rs 100, and for longer routes, the increase is of Rs 200. Kingfisher and its low fare service Kingfisher Red, Jet Airways and its low-fare service Jet Airways Konnect, and its low-cost subsidiary JetLite together command over 50 per cent market-share in the domestic sector.

When contacted, the Air India spokesperson said, "We have not yet decided." Currently the ATF price in Mumbai is 40,722 per kl and Rs 39,474 per kl in Delhi. Airfares are likely to rise further during the November to January peak tourism season.
