NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's April-October indirect tax receipts were down 21.6 percent from a year earlier at 1.27 trillion rupees, the finance ministry said on Wednesday.

The decline reflected falling imports and sluggish factory output growth.

Excise duty receipts, levied at factory gates, were down 18.8 percent to 525.66 billion rupees in the first seven months, while customs collection declined 31.8 percent to 454.12 billion rupees.

Service tax collection also fell 5.4 percent to 289.26 billion rupees during April-October, the ministry said in a statement said.
